Our Local Beaches

Cockle Bay Beach

The stunning Cockle Bay Beach is just a 5 minute drive from central Howick.

With a historic restaurant at one end and a reserve and children’s playground at the other, it’s a great place to take the kids to feed the ducks and to burn off some energy. Sit down at the beach and watch them play safely in the shallows or take a stroll down to the far end where there’s huge Pohutukawa Tress to climb.

With views out to Waiheke, Beachlands and Maraetai, the scenery here is not to be missed.

Howick Beach

Howick Beach is approximately a 5 minute walk or 1 minute drive by car from the main street of Howick.

Explore the rock pools, collect shells, sit on the grass up on the hill and watch the waves or just relax in your car eating takeaways with nice scenery to look at. It’s a great place to bring the kids!!

Mellons Bay Beach

Popular walks with the locals, Mellons Bay has beautiful views of Rangitoto and Waiheke Island.

Mellons Bay Beach is a great place for walking the dog or just sitting in the car at the top carpark and taking in the beautiful scenery. There are toilet facilities here and if you’re feeling energetic, take the path up to Bleakhouse Road and to the Macleans Reserve bush track.

Bucklands Beach

Bucklands Beach is approximately a 10 minute drive from the main street of Howick

Bucklands Beach at at the mouth of the Tamaki River is popular for windsurfing and small sailing boats. It’s also a perfect place to take the kids fishing or to explore the rock pools at low tide. Enjoy the beautiful views of Rangitoto Island while relaxing on the beach. Bucklands Beach get extremely busy on holidays, weekends and in the summer, so get there early to get a spot!

Eastern Beach

The wide expanse of Eastern Beach provides room for both swimmers and water-skiers!

The large grassy area at the southern end of Eastern Beach provides an excellent place for a family picnic or gathering and there is a great playground about half way along the beach to keep the kids entertained.

Its a beautiful white sand beach and is great for swimming at when the tide is in Eastern Beach is extremely busy on holidays, weekends and in the summer so get there early to get a spot!
